Fafda is a Gujarati snack. I have tried this in many local north Indian shops and thought I will give it a try. And also This is apt for this “feels like munching anything” weather.

1. Besan – 1 cup

2. Ajwain seeds/ om kaalu – 1 teaspoon

3. Baking soda – 1/4 teaspoon

4. Salt as per the taste

5. Oil – 2 table spoon + for deep frying

6. Green chilly – 8-10

7. Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon

Procedure for making fafda:

1. In a mixing bowl, add besan, ajwain seeds, baking soda, salt, 1 tablespoon of oil and mix well so that salt spreads uniformly.

2. Add water in batches to form a tight dough.

3. Let it rest for 30 minutes.

4. Slit the green chillies and shallow fry until it turns into light green in a pan.

5. Take out the chillies in a bowl, add salt and lemon juice and give it a mix.

6. By the time fafda gets ready green chillies absorbs the salt and lemon.

7. Now add another tablespoon of oil to the dough and mix well.

8. Take a small ball of dough and roll it using rolling pin.

9. Deep fry them untill it turns into yellow color.

10. Serve it with fried green chillies.
