GOJJAVALAKKI

Gojjavalakki is the most loved recipe of all time. This is a must recipe during tulsi festival, krishna janmashtami. This is a tangy and spicy dish which is best suitd for breakfast as well as evening meal.

Ingredients:

1. Poha – 1 Cup

2. Tamrind – 4 Table spoon

3. Chilly powder – 3 Table spoon

4. Jaggery – 1 Table spoon

5. Salt

6. Turmeric – 1 Tea spoon

7. Ground nut oil – 1/4 Cup

8. Mustard – 1 Tea spoon

9. Bengal gram – 1 Table spoon

10. Urad daal – 1 Table spoon

11. Ground nut – 3 Table spoon

12. Asafoetida – 1/4 Tea spoon

13. Dry coconut – 1/4 Cup

14. Curry leaves 

15. Coriander leaves

Procedure for making gojjavalakki:

1. Grind poha in a mixer for one round in such a way that it just breaks into two halves.

2. Then wash it thoroughly and strain out the water.

3. let it set for 4-5 minutes.

4. Add tamrind juice, chilly powder,jaggery,salt and turmeric to it and mix well.

5. In a pan, heat the oil and add mustard, bengal gram, urad daal, asafoetida, ground nut, curry leaves and saute it well.

6. Add the previously prepared poha mixture to the pan and give it a fry.

7. Add dry coconut and garnish it with coriander.

Serves: 2

Tastes better when it’s hot.

SECRET TIPS:

1. Giving it a nice fry helps the dish to stay longer and tastier.

2. Ground nut oil is the secret ingredient!!
