Jeera rice is a North indian rice dish. The recipe which I am going to share in this post is quite different than the actual recipe. And this is my personal favourite one. You can have this kind of Jeera rice without gravy and also this is very easy to make.
1. Rice – 1 Cup 2. Oil – 4 Table spoon 3. Jeera – 4 Table spoon 4. Onion – 2 5. Ginger – 1 inch 6. Garlic – 6-7 7. Green chilly – 6-7 8. Cinamon – 2 Stick 9. Curry leaves 10. Cardamom – 4 11. Cloves – 4 12. Milk – 1/2 Cup 13. Salt
Procedure for making jeera rice:
1. Take ginger, garlic and green chilly in a mixer and grind it to a fine paste. (you can also use ginger-garlic paste and green chilly paste). 2. In a cooker, heat the oil. 3. Add jeera, onion, cinamon, curry leaves, cardamom, cloves and ginger garlic green chilly paste. 4. Saute it until the onion turns golden brown. 5. Add rice and give it a nice 2-3 minutes fry. 6. Add milk and stir it well. 7. 1 cup of rice takes 2 cups of water. But we are also adding milk so add just 1 and 1/2 cup of water. 8. Add salt as per your taste and let it simmer. 9. Once it starts boiling, close the lid and cook it for 3 whistles. 10. When it’s done, mix well and serve. Serves: 3 You can enjoy it even without gravy.
1. Adding milk gives thick gravy texture. 2. You can replace milk with grated coconut and instead of 1 and 1/2 cup of water, add 2 cups of water. I really hope you like it and do let me know how it goes in the comment section. Have a nice Cooking time. If you like the recipe, kindly share it with your friends and family.
