MURUKKU
Murukku/chakli is a very tasty savoury and crunchy South Indian snack. You can make this recipe whenever you want without any mess. With the same ingredient but with less butter you can make it in a round chakli shape.
Ingredients:
1. Rice flour – 2 cups
2. Fried gram powder – 1/2 cup
3. Jeera – 1 table spoon
4. Sesame seed – 1 table spoon
5. Salt
6. Baking soda – 1 Tea spoon
7. Chilly powder – 2 Table spoon
8. Melted butter – 2 Table spoon
9. Oil
Procedure for making murukku/chakli:
1. Take rice flour in a bowl and add all the ingredients into it.
2. Add water and mix it to the chapathi dough consistency.
3. Take the dough in the chakli maker and make chakli shapes.
4. Deep fry the shaped dough in heated oil.
5. You can also press the chakli maker directly in the oil pan to get in different shapes.
SECRET TIPS:
1. The secret of crunchiness lies in butter. Proper amount of butter makes chakli to be crunchy. And also more butter breaks the chakli. So don’t add more butter.
