ONION GOJJU
Onion gojju is a spicy and tasty curry. when you fall sick and feel everything tasteless you can make this curry to rejuvenate your tatse buds.
Ingredients:
1. Tamrind – 50g
2. Oil – 1/4 Cup
3. Mustard – 1 Tea spoon
4. Bengal gram – 2 Table spoon
5. Urad daal – 1 Table spoon
6. Onion – 4-5
7. Garlic – 1/2
8. Curry leaves – 2-3 stems
9. Fenugreek seeds – 1 Table spoon
10. Byadagi chilly – 4
11. Salt
12. Jaggery – 2 Table spoon
13. Sambar powder – 4-5 Table spoon
14. Turmeric – 1 Tea spoon
15. Grated coconut – 2 Table spoon

Or use the available sambar powder.
Procedure for making onion gojju:
1. Soak tamrind for 30 minutes and extract the juice from it.
( You can also soak tamrind in hot water to get it done quickly)
2. In a pan, add oil, mustard, fenugreek, bengal gram, urad daal, curry leaves, byadagi chilly, onion and garlic.
3. Saute it until the onion turns golden brown.
4. Add the extracted tamrind juice and 1 cup of water.
5. Add salt and jaggery and let it simmer.
6. When the curry starts becoming thick add sambar powder and grated coconut.
7. Turn off the gas once it gets thick consistency.
Serves : 5
Tastes better with hot rice and chapathi.
SECRET TIPS:
Fenugreek is the taste and flavour enhancer.
Garlic is optional for those who doesn’t prefer.
