Oats chilla is one of the easy and quick diet recipe. Also it is instant, you don’t have to soak or grind anything the night before.


1. Rolled oats – 1 cup

2. Gram flour – 1 tablespoon

3. Rava /suji – 1 tablespoon

4. Rice flour – 2 tablespoon

5. Onion – 1 (chopped)

6. Green chilli – 4-5 (finely chopped)

7. Coriander leaves – 1 tablespoon (finely chopped)

8. Carrot – 1/2 (shredded)

9. Salt

Procedure for making oats chilla:

1. Dry roast the rolled oats for 2-3 minutes until it gives out a nice aroma.

2. Transfer the roasted oats into a bowl and crumble it lightly using your hand.

Oats are best crumbled when it’s hot. If you have pre roasted the oats, you can warm it in a pan so as to crumble nicely just before using.

3. Add gram flour, rava and rice flour to it and mix well.

4. Furthermore, add chopped onion, green chilli, shredded carrot and salt. And give it a good mix.

5. Add water in batches to get a batter consistency.

6. Mix it thoroughly.

7. Heat the pan and take a ladle full of batter and spread it on the pan.

8. Cook both the sides by adding a spoon of ghee.

You can add any vegetables of your choice.

Serve it with a mango pickle and a cup of curd.


1. Always roast oats before using to avoid bloating.

2. Always add water when you’re about to eat. Don’t let the batter sit for long. Since oats soften quickly, chilla becomes sticky.
