OATS UPMA
We all know that oats is the best food for weight loss but doesn’t taste good. With all the vegetables we can make it tastier than any other dish. And also oats can be eaten in any time of the day. So suit it according to your meal plan. Oats upma is the most healthy breakfast and also it is a energy booster for the whole day. I have used beans, carrot green peas and capsicum, you can customize it according to your taste.
Ingredients:
1. Oats – 1 cup
2. Mixed vegetables – 1 cup
( I have used beans, carrot, green peas )
3. Ghee – 3 tablespoon
4. Onion – 1 ( chopped)
5. Capsicum – 1/2 ( chopped)
6. Curry leaves – 4-5 leaves
7. Chana dal – 1 tablespoon
8. Urad dal – 1/2 tablespoon
9. Turmeric – 1/2 teaspoon
10. Green chilly – 3-4
11. Hing/asafoetida – 1/4 teaspoon
12. Coconut – 2 tablespoon ( grated)
13. Coriander leaves – 2 tablespoon (chopped)
14. Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon
15. Mustard – 1 teaspoon
Procedure for making Oats upma:
1. Take mixed vegetables in a bowl, add 2 cups of water and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
2. Dry roast the oats for 3 minutes or until it gives out a nice roasted aroma.
3. Transfer the roasted oats into a separate bowl and keep it aside.
4. Take ghee in a pan and add mustard, chana dal, urad dal once when the ghee is hot.
5. Saute it for a minute and add hing, onion, capsicum and curry leaves.
6. Give it a good fry for 2-3 minutes.
7. Once the onion becomes transparent, add cooked vegetables with the water in it.
8. Mix it well and allow it to set for a minute.
9. Add turmeric powder and mix well.
10. Once it starts boiling, add the roasted oats while stirring continuously.
11. Close the lid for 2 minutes and allow it to get cooked.
12. Finally add coconut and coriander leaves and lemon juice and mix well.
SECRET TIPS:
1. Don’t cook lemon juice since it becomes bitter.
2. Always roast oats before using it.
HEALTH TIPS:
Sucking a piece of clove after a meal helps in reducing acidity.
