PLANTAIN FRITTERS/ BAALE KAYI BAJJI

BAALE KAYI BAJJI RECIPE

Plantain fritters or baale kayi bajji is very easy to make recipe.

Ingredients for baale kayi bajji :

  1. Plantain / baale kayi – 1

  2. Fried Gram flour – 1 cup

  3. Rice flour – 2 table spoon

  4. Salt

  5. Chilli powder – 2 table spoon

  6. Baking Soda – 1 tea spoon

  7. Ajwain – 1 tea spoon

Procedure :

  1. Clean the plantain and cut the edges.

  2. Slice the plantain or baale kayi and place it in a bowl of water.

  3. Take a bowl, add fried gram flour, rice flour, salt, chilli powder, baking soda and ajwain. Mix all the dry ingredients well.

  4. Add water in batches to make a thick batter.

  5. Dry out the sliced baale kayi slices using a cloth.

  6. Immerse the dried slices in the batter to get a nice coating on the slices.

  7. Meanwhile, keep oil for heating .

  8. Once the oil is heated, add the sliced baale kayi which is immersed in batter one by one.

  9. Deep fry for 7-8 minutes in a medium flame.

Makes about 8-10 fritters in 1 plantain. Tastes best when it’s hot and spicy.

SECRET TIP :

Sliced plantains are placed in water to prevent it from turning black.
